{"id":5,"date":"2018-06-27T10:50:49","date_gmt":"2018-06-27T10:50:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sites.ipleiria.pt\/esflc2019\/?page_id=5"},"modified":"2018-11-27T13:03:01","modified_gmt":"2018-11-27T13:03:01","slug":"call-for-papers","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/sites.ipleiria.pt\/esflc2019\/pagina-exemplo\/call-for-papers\/","title":{"rendered":"Call for papers"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"ctsc-separator ctsc-separator-normal \"><div class=\"ctsc-separator-line\"><\/div><div class=\"ctsc-separator-title\">First call for papers<\/div><div class=\"clear\"><\/div><\/div>\n<p>We welcome papers on any issue of semiotic description from an SFL perspective, but we particularly expect papers on the following subthemes or areas of research, deriving either from investigation at the potential pole of the cline of instantiation or at the instance pole:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em>Multiliteracies<\/em>: making meaning in different cultural, social or domain-specific contexts combining written-linguistic modes with oral, visual, audio, gestural, tactile and spatial patterns of meaning;<\/li>\n<li><em>Professional discourse<\/em>: the use of language and other semiotic systems in the workplace and other organizational contexts;<\/li>\n<li><em>Education<\/em>: research in first\/foreign language education, language and content integrated learning, knowledge about language, specialized knowledge, genre pedagogy, grammar education;<\/li>\n<li><em>Language typology<\/em>: descriptions of particular languages identifying generalizations based on the languages described as well as on other languages.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/sites.ipleiria.pt\/esflc2019\/special-guests\/\">Plenary Speakers<\/a><br \/>\n<\/strong><span style=\"font-size: 14px\">&#8211; Gunther Kress, University College London, UK<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 14px\">&#8211; James R. Abstracts for paper and poster proposals should include title, a maximum of 200 words and 5 keywords. Abstracts for colloquia proposals should include a general description of the colloquium purpose (maximum 100 words), and individual descriptions of the papers to be presented (maximum 200 words each). <a href=\"http:\/\/sites.ipleiria.pt\/esflc2019\/pagina-exemplo\/submission-guidelines\/\">All abstracts must be submitted using Easychair<\/a>. The platform will be open for proposal submission from November 2018 until 25 January 2019.<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/sites.ipleiria.pt\/esflc2019\/pagina-exemplo\/dates-and-deadlines\/\"><strong>Dates<\/strong><\/a>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Abstracts due: 25 January 2019<\/li>\n<li>Acceptance of notification: 8 March 2019<\/li>\n<li>Early Bird Registration: until 20 April 2019<\/li>\n<li>Regular Registration: until 15 May 2019<strong style=\"font-size: 14px\">\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/sites.ipleiria.pt\/esflc2019\/venue\/location\/\"><strong>Location<\/strong><\/a>: The Conference, which will be preceded by an Institute, will be held in Leiria, a charming and historical city situated in the centre of Portugal, one and a half hours drive distance from Lisbon, and two hours from Oporto. <a href=\"http:\/\/sites.ipleiria.pt\/esflc2019\/venue\/\">More specifically<\/a>, the Conference takes place at the Polytechnic Institute of Leiria, in the heart of the city, at the School of Technology and Management. The Pre-Conference Institute (<strong>1-2\u00a0July 2019<\/strong>) will take place at the School of Education and Social Sciences.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/sites.ipleiria.pt\/esflc2019\/venue\/travel-info\/\"><strong>Travel<\/strong><\/a>: Regular daily coaches provide transport from Lisbon and Oporto.
