Professor Geoffrey Mitchell, presented an invited lecture at the International  Plastic Heritage Conference

Professor Geoffrey Mitchell, vice director of CDRSP , presented an invited lecture at the International  Plastic Heritage Conference held in the Museu des Coches in Lisbon at the end of May 2019.The conference is held every two years by the Plastic Heritage European Association. His talk was titled “85 years of the rise and fall of polyolefins”, charting the progress of the dominant industrial plastics since their accidental discovery in 1933 and the challenges they face due to the iŕresponsible disposal of plastic waste as evidenced by microplastics and plastic waste in the oceans to the detriment of the environment and the marine life in the oceans. He was a member of the Conference Programme Committee and a member of the Jury for the best poster prizes.
